6.Working principle. The yeast inside the small bucket ferments in a water + sugar environment, continuously releasing CO2. The CO2 diffuses through the volatilization vents on the yellow lid. Since CO2 is denser than air, it naturally sinks and slowly spreads within the large bucket, mimicking the gas signal of human breath and precisely attracting female adult mosquitoes. Attracted by CO2, mosquitoes are guided by the funnel-shaped entrances into the large bucket, where they cannot escape. The soapy water inside the large bucket breaks the surface tension; once mosquitoes touch the water, they lose buoyancy, cannot take off again, and eventually drown in the bucket
